A DANCE teacher with a penchant for bright hair colours is sporting her boldest barnet to date.
Diane Plews from Aycliffe Village, County Durham, had her shoulder length purple locks shaved off as part of Macmillan Cancer Support’s Brave the Shave campaign.
The 44-year-old, who runs Macadam School of Dance in Newton Aycliffe, was cheered on by friends, family, pupils and parents, all of whom love her new look.
Mrs Plews said: “Cancer affects so many people. I lost my mother-in-law and my father to cancer and one of the parents at the dance school is battling breast cancer at the age of 39.
“It’s strange because I actually had a dream I had my head shaved and the next day I saw an advert for Brave the Shave and thought right I am going to do this.
“I keep my rubbing my head now as it feels really nice. I got a number one. I am not bothered at all. It’s just hair and it will grow back.”
The mother-of-three is hoping to hit her fundraising target of £1,000.
