THOUSANDS of petrol heads are expected at an action-packed day of some of the most extreme entertainment on four wheels.

The third Extreme Torque Show rolls into the Nissan plant at Washington on Sunday (July 5) with three arenas - the Urban Arena, Extreme Arena and Torque Arena - showcasing everything from monster trucks to BMX bikes.

The action will be spread across three arenas, with organisers hopeful of more than 10,000 spectators expected to enjoy the fun.

Among the highlights will be a performance by The Extreme BMX stunt team, including 18-year-old Sunderland cyclist Karl Southern performing on home soil.

He said: “It’s just great knowing that people get a buzz watching me ride my bike and when I get to come to my home city it’s an even bigger buzz for me”.

There will also be an appearance by Torque Show regulars, monster trucks Lil’ Devil and Extreme, while there will also be an international car drifting competition, courtesy of the Drift Outlaws.

Co-organiser Anthony Scott said: “Last year we had about 10,000 people. We’ve got even more going on this year, and if the weather is good that helps to, so we should get a good turn-out.”

The Nissan Extreme Torque Show takes place between 10am and 5pm, with tickets available from www.extremeeventseurope.com or on the door.
