YOUNGSTERS will have the chance to show off their creative talents when a drama workshop opens later this month.

GoAct, which is designed for eight to 16-year-olds, will come to the Hambleton Forum, in Northallerton on Monday, April 28.

The weekly classes will lead to regular public performances and are open to seasoned actors and actresses as well as young people who have no experience of the stage.

Classes will encourage them to take part in different types of drama, as well as giving them the chance to be involved with set design, scenery-building, choreography, sound and lighting.

Members of Northallerton Amateur Variety Company, Northallerton Amateur Operatics Society and Allerton Players, all local groups who regularly perform at the Forum, will be helping out at the Saturday morning sessions.

Drama practitioner Simon Gibson said: "We are aiming to give people a chance to explore talents and styles that they might not have met before.

"The fusion of different styles, culminating in a final performance, will give the group a unique taste of a range of drama genres."

The first set of classes will lead to a public performance on June 30 at 1pm.

Sessions take place between 10am and noon and cost £8.

They can be booked in advance, either weekly or as a ten-week course, through Hambleton Leisure Centre on 01609-777070.
