ONE of the world’s leading jazz trombonists is to headline a music festival coming to County Durham.

Dennis Rollins and Funky Funk are to take centre stage at the Harambee Pasadia festival in Barnard Castle.

He has been at the fore front of UK jazz music for 25-years and has performed with stars like Courtney Pine.

The four-day festival will feature Afro-beat, jazz, reggae, funk and Latin music plus music and dance workshops, arts events, sports activities and African, Latin and Asian foods.

Newcastle-based jazz funk band King Bee, he Paul Edis Sextet and Hannabiell and Midnight Blue are also on the bill.

The festival starts on Friday, May 22, with live music from 7pm.

Free workshops and activities start on Saturday, May 23, and Sunday, May 24, from 11am with live music from 4pm. A fireworks display to music will end Sunday.

Visitors on Monday (May 25) can enjoy a parade of carnival floats and costumes.

Tickets for the full four day festival are £45 per adult, £15 for under-18s and free for under-tens. Day tickets are available from £25.
