TALENTED youngsters are set to showcase their talents at a national dance competition.

Jessica Shaw and Caitlin Stevens, pupils at Bishop Barrington School, in Bishop Auckland, have won through to the national finals of the Great Big Dance Off.

The youngsters, both aged 16, perform contemporary dance. They qualified through a regional heat which covered the North-East of England.

The final is at the New Alexandria Theatre, in Birmingham, on Monday, June 22, where they are up against the other regional heat winners.

Caroline Bibby, a PE teacher and leader of dance at the school, said: “We are very proud of them and they have done really, really well.

“They created a dance for the school show in February and they were so good that once we heard about the show we decided to put them forward.

“They were up against 14 other groups in the regional finals at Newcastle and they will be up against 20 other groups in the national finals.”
