A HOLISTIC healing centre is urging everyone to pull on their walking shoes to boost their health and wellbeing this summer.

The Trinity Holistic Centre in the grounds of the James Cook University hospital has launched its own walking group with weekly strolls from the Middlesbrough hospital and from Redcar Primary Care Hospital.

Anyone is welcome to join in whether it’s staff members who want to get away from their desk on a lunch time, outpatients who have time to spare between appointments, visitors who want a break from waiting in the hospital or members of the public who just want to get more active.

“Walking is relaxing, stress relieving and a great way to take some time out. It clears the mind for the day ahead and it’s an easy way to increase the amount of exercise you are doing,” said health and wellbeing support worker Ray Wheatley, who leads the walks.

“Our guided walks are suitable for all abilities and we are urging everyone to come and join us.”

The walking group, which is part funded by South Tees Clinical Commissioning Group’s community innovation fund, will meet at the Trinity Holistic Centre every Wednesday, 12noon to 12.30pm and 12.30pm to 1pm and at Redcar Primary Care Hospital, every Thursday, 10.30am to 12.30pm

To register for any of the walks contact the centre on 01642-854839 or visit southtees.nhs.uk/trinity for more details. The walks are free but any donations to the centre are always welcome. Wear sensible shoes and an appropriate jacket.

The Trinity Holistic Centre provides support to patients and their families affected by cancer and other long term conditions at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
