A TEESDALE school came alive with the sounds of Africa yesterday as students prepared for a tribal drumming performance.
About 90 pupils from Green Lane School, in Barnard Castle, took part in workshops about playing African Djembe drums.
After a day of practising, the students, all from years three and four, took part in a concert in front of the rest of the school and parents.
The money raised from the concert went to Comic Relief.
Richard Scott, from Four Corners Music, taught the children how to use the drums.
He said: "The children have been really great in the workshops and it's really testing them because there are some complicated structures that we are using with the drums, but they pick it quite quickly."
Deputy headteacher Paula Ford, said: "All of the kids have absolutely loved doing the drumming."
