AN Olympic long jumper leapt at the chance to give youngsters some sporting tips.
Middlesbrough-born athlete Chris Tomlinson spent the afternoon taking fitness sessions with pupils at Escomb Primary School, near Bishop Auckland.
The event was put on as part of the Sports for Schools programme and the children raised more than £2,000. Some of this money will be used to buy sports equipment for the school.
Afterwards Mr Tomlinson gave pupils a motivational assembly about his career and the sport.
PE leader Leanne Collings, of Escomb Primary School, said: “It has been absolutely fantastic. The children really enjoyed it.
“It was only a one-off event but because it has gone so well we would be keen to do something like this again.”
