DESIGNER Wayne Hemingway hopes to inspire creativity in the region’s youngsters next month.

The Red or Dead co-founder is the keynote speaker at February’s Arts Award conference in Newcastle.

The event is being organised by Bridge North East, which promotes cultural partnerships with schools and youth organisations.

Since the Arts Council England set up Bridge North East in 2005, nearly 5,000 North-East youngsters have received an Arts Award and more than 1,500 have become qualified Arts Award advisers.

Mr Hemingway said: “One of the many good things about Arts Award is that it is supported by people from different disciplines who share the belief that an engagement with the arts can be hugely beneficial for young people.

“I look forward to meeting some of the Arts Award advisers in February and hearing how young people have been able to use the framework the Award provides to create something really special.”

The Arts Award conference will be held at Newcastle City Library on Friday, February 6. To book free tickets, visit bridgenortheast.com or email: bridgenortheast@sagegateshead.com
