HUNDREDS of schoolchildren were treated to a petting zoo, baking competition and much more when they attended a popular country fair today (Friday, July 11).

Children were given free entry to the Game and County Fair at Sedgefield Racecourse in County Durham in return for raising funds for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity.

The fair continues tomorrow (Saturday, July 12) when it will serve up a host of rural pursuits and country food to people of all ages.

Activities include: clay pigeon shooting, family fun race, ferret and pet show, pony rides, paintballing, a bake-off contest and party inflatables.

There will also be a packed food tent, art and craft stalls and displays, showcasing everything from vintage tractors, to hounds and beagles.

Jill Williamson, executive director at Sedgefield Racecourse, said: “The Game and Country Fair is one of our most action packed weekends and is a welcome addition to Sedgefield Racecourse’s summer offering. There really is something to suit everyone.”

Entry is from £3.
