A MOTHER has shed more than two stone to raise funds for a new youth internet cafe.

Lisa Metcalf, 35, who works for Willington Community Action Centre, completed the sponsored slim in aid of the charity’s Surf Shack, an internet cafe for youngsters aged between five and 16.

Mother of one Ms Metcalf has lost 33lbs over three months through healthier eating and joining the gym at the Spectrum Leisure Centre.

Ms Metcalf, who raised about £500 for the youth cafe, said: “I’ve tried dieting before but it’s never worked, this time I knew once I was committed I had to keep to it because it was for such a good cause.

“I am pleased with how it’s gone, I would like to thank everyone at the Spectrum and everybody who has supported me.”

Youngsters previously raised £500 for the Surf Shack with a sponsored walk while the Three Towns Area Action partnership gave £5,000 to get the project started.

The Surf Shack meets every Wednesday from 4pm to 6pm, it costs £1.50 to join with ever session free after that.

Under fives are also welcome with a parent and there are arts and craft sessions as well as internet usage.
