PAINTINGS by two Palestinian artists will go on show in the North-East next week (Friday, April 4).

The Traces and Revelations exhibition features works by Hazem Harb and Mohammed Joha and will open at Durham University’s Oriental Museum on Friday, April 4.

Their work explores themes of war, loss, trauma, human vulnerability, global instability and displacement and this exhibition looks at the relationship between artists, their art and the environment.

Museum curator Craig Barclay said: “It’s very exciting to be able to bring to Durham such compelling work by two wonderful artists.

“It’s a great opportunity for our visitors to experience first-hand the creativity and vision of artists from this often misunderstood region.”

The exhibition will run until Sunday, October 5. The museum, on Elvet Hill Road, is open from 10am to 5pm Monday to Friday and noon to 5pm on weekends and bank holidays. Entry costs £1.50 for adults, 75p for children aged five to 16 and over 60s and is free for under-fives and students. For more information, call 0191-334-5694.
