A DEAL has been struck to bring an award-winning farmers’ market to Middlesbrough’s Stewart Park.

The park and Northern Dales Farmers Markets have joined forces to develop a monthly event in the grounds, with the first taking place this Sunday (March 23).

It will start with 18 stalls selling everything from cheese and bread to meat, plants and herbs, while the Stewart Park craft fair will also be continuing, running until 3pm.

Northern Dales Farmers Markets are behind many markets in the region, including the monthly Stokesley event which was announced last week as the National Farmers’ Market of the Year by the National Farmers’ Retail and Markets Association.

Stewart Park has hosted its own market since May last year, with its craft fair running since September 2012, but will now team up with Northern Dales.

Nigel Davison, market manager of Northern Dales Farmers Markets, said: “We hope we will be able to bring the magic of Stokesley and our other markets to Stewart Park – we will have a lot of the same stalls selling a wide variety of fantastic produce.”

The farmers’ market will run from 9am to 2.30pm and will run monthly on Sundays until December. The dates are: Sunday, March 23; April 27; May 25; June 22; August 24; September 28; October 26; November 23.
