A CORONER has ruled that a man found dead by a care worker at sheltered accommodation in Hurworth Place intended to kill himself.

Police were called to the Linden Place complex near Darlington when 58-year-old David Jones was found hanging inside his home by a care worker on the evening of October 12.

An inquest at Crook Coroners’ Court heard today (Wednesday, March 12) that although Mr Jones had been suffering from health problems, he had given no indication to his carers that he intended to commit suicide.

Detective Sergeant Andy Crowe of Darlington CID investigated the incident and confirmed at the inquest that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding Mr Jones’ death, nor any third party involvement.

Coroner Andrew Tweddle recorded a verdict that Mr Jones took his own life.
