A CAMPAIGNER has travelled from the North-East to Downing Street to present a petition calling for a ban on foie gras.
Fiona Munro, from Darlington, collected more than 100,000 signatures on a petition to ban production of the meat which involves force feeding ducks and geese to enlarge their liver.
Mrs Munro was joined by members of animal rights groups including Viva!, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta) and Animal Aid as part of an international day of action against foie gras.
Protests took place at the French Embassy in London and the petition was handed over to officials at Number 10 by Mrs Munro and fellow campaigners.
