MOUNT Pleasant Rangers Under-8s, sponsored by Auto Electrics (Teesside) Ltd, played at home in a local derby against 21 All Stars.

Captained by Tom Kelly, Rangers played one of the best games of their season, the defensive duo of Bradley Kilpatrick and Callum Crumpton held off the All Star attacks. But, just before half time, the All Stars scored against Rangers keeper Paul Palmer.

Rangers pressed on but were unable to find the back of the oppositions net, Ross Legg had the last shot on goal for Rangers but again they were unable to beat the keeper.

Man of the match was Callum Crumpton, but it was a great all round effort from such a young squad.

The Under-10s A, sponsored by Burnside Carpets, played Stockton Town at home on Sunday; Stockton Town started play with an early goal. MPR responded from kick-off with a counter attack through Cain James, James Bradshaw and Lewis Timms to force a save from the Stockton Town goalkeeper as Cameron Callaghan shot for goal.

Stockton Town surged forward but solid defending from Jordan Hunting, Andrew Hull and Captain James Bradshaw defied them from another goal. Good Goalkeeping from Gareth Raper kept the half time score at 1-0.

The second half saw MPR press forward through Declan Brown and Cain James who put pressure on the Stockton Town Defence. MPR played a lot better the second half but were unable to make their chances count. The MPR pressure finally paid off when Man of the Match Declan Brown found the net. Despite an impressive second half from MPR, Stockton Town managed to pull another goal out of the hat leaving the score at full-time MPR 1 Stockton Town 2.

The friendly, captained by Lewis Thomas, saw MPR keep good ball possession through Ben Firth and Lewis Thomas to Ryan Groves who forced an early save, MPR defence were caught off guard with good midfield play from Stockton Town which resulted in a goal.

MPR evened the score through a well taken shot from Cameron Callaghan. Despite a well fought match with some excellent play from defenders Jamie Hunter and Lewis Timms and some good individual play from Ben Firth and Cain James, Stockton scored a second.

With a last minute strike, Ryan Groves earned Rangers a draw. Man of match was Declan Brown.

Mount Pleasant Rangers Under-12s A team, sponsored by Paul Saddington Builders, played Brinkburn in the County Cup and in what was a good game were unlucky to lose 4-3.

Rangers goalscorers were Rikki Gann 2 and a Lee Swainston penalty.

Mount Pleasant Rangers Under-10s B, sponsored by Noble Self Drive, played Hardwick Youth away. On an exposed and windy pitch Rangers started well and after five minutes were rewarded with a goal from Brandon Bainbridge.

After ten minutes Hardwick were awarded a penalty, but they could only fire wide. Five minutes into the second half Hardwick equalised.

The captain was Liam Taylor and man of the match was Aaron Chapman.

The friendly saw Rangers tire a little early on and they found themselves 4-1 down. Rangers then started to make a comeback. Aaron Chapman, who scored the first goal, scored another goal to make it 4-2.

Hardwick replied making it 5-2, and then Aaron completed his hat-trick making it 5-3.

The Captain was Owen Guest, who was also man of the match.

Hilda Park

THE Under-8s played Chester Athletic and drew 2-2 with goals from Liam Clarke and man of the match Dominic Tatoli. Next they played Deerness Valley and lost 3-0. Man of the match was Reece Dickinson.

The Under-9s played two draws, the first against East Durham 0-0. Man of the match was Lewis Cable/Michael Smith. They then played Durham Co. and drew 2-2 with Lewis Cable scoring his first goal of the season, and Michael Smith netting the second. Man of the match was goalkeeper Kyle Mitchell.

The Under-10s played a 0-0 draw against Chester Athletic. Man of the match was Luke Maddison. Next they played Byers Green and won 3-0 with goals from Adam Wilson, Andrew Short and man of the match Luke Maddison.

The Under-10s Terriers lost 1-0 to Byers Green. Man of the match was Aaron Wells. Next they played Boldon Colts and lost 2-0. Man of the match was Jack Anslow.

The Under-11s were at home to Mill Hill Boys and won 4-2. With a goal each from Ben Thompson, Marc Green, Ryan McCauley and Michael Conelly.

The Under-12s were away to Redhough Boys in the County Cup and won 2-0.

The Under-13s were away to Sunderland TUC and lost 5-2. Goal scorers were Adam Stevenson and Daniel Clarkson. Man of the match was Adam Twist.

The Under-16s were away to top of the table Downhill in a close game that ended 5-4. Stuart Ainsworth got a brace and Peter Brown and man of the match Christopher Twycross got a goal each.

The Under-17s were away to Stadium in the County Cup and won 5-3 Man of the match Christopher Stevenson got a hat-trick and Liam Alexander and Michael Johnson scored the others.

Coxhoe United

THE Under-11s had a tough match ahead of them as they were up against the mighty Swalwell Swifts. A magnificent debut in goal for Jason Jones limited Swalwell to two first half goals which came on 15 and 26 minutes.

Despite losing the game the signs are that the Under-11s are making significant progress and that elusive first win is just around the corner. Man of the match was Ryan Mansfield.

Washington Juniors were Coxhoe United Under-10s' first opponents of the weekend. Washington beat Lee Saiger in goal for Coxhoe with a low shot drilled into the corner.

United began to find their shooting form, and it took a fine streching dive from the Juniors keeper to deny a tremendous Alex McGrath shot on eight minutes. With one minute left to play, another chance for Coxhoe passed by when an Andrew Simpson shot glided marginally wide. Man of the match was Alex McGrath.

The supporters didn't have long to wait as long for the opener in Coxhoe's second match when City Of Durham Scorpions broke through the defence and scored within two minutes.

Coxhoe started to build their momentum and created an equaliser on seven minutes when a clever Andrew Simpson off the ball run drew threw Scorpions defence away from the centre of the penalty box leaving Alex McGrath unmarked to slam home from a Cameron Holdsworth corner.

Coxhoe now had a hunger for victory and continued to test the Scorpions keeper with some great team play which eventually led to their second from Andrew Simpson with five minutes left of normal time.

Durham were determined not to let the points slip away and kept Coxhoe working hard until the final whistle after two minutes of injury time. Man of the match was Andrew Simpson.
