SUBBUTEO ace Mike Parnaby will pass on his finger-flicking skills to a younger generation with a training session at Grangetown Library, on Friday, from 5.30pm to 6.30pm.

Mr Parnaby, who works for Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, has been playing the tabletop soccer game for 30 years, and hopes youngsters will set up a regular weekly session.

OPENING HOURS: Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council's register office, at Westgate, Guisborough, will be open for weddings only on Saturday, December 23, and Saturday, December 30. The office will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day, reopening from 9am to 4pm, on December 27, and from 9.30am to 4pm, on December 28 and 29. It will close on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, reopening from 9am to 6pm on Tuesday, January 2.

WIND CHIMES: Children can make a Christmas decoration with a difference at Flatts Lane Woodland Country Park, Normanby, on Sunday, from 1pm to 3pm, making a wind chime at the visitor centre. There will be a £2 charge per child, with booking required. For more information, call 01642-459629.

NEW HOME: Staff from Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council's community protection division have moved to Cleveland Police's district headquarters, on the Kirkleatham Business Park, near Redcar. The staff, who control the council's 24 community safety wardens, have relocated from Dawson House, Redcar.

FESTIVE FAIR: The Friends of Sunnyfield House holds a Christmas fair on Saturday, December 16, from 10am to 4pm, in Sunnyfield House, Westgate, Guisborough. To book a table, telephone 01287-636226. Proceeds will be donated to Guisborough Community Centre.
