THE North Yorkshire Probation Board yesterday published a disability equality scheme.
The document aims to ensure that the board's services can be accessed by everyone with disabilities.
It was drawn up following consultations with the public and representatives from the voluntary and community sector, probation employees, service users and disabled representatives in the county.
The scheme includes an action plan that focuses on delivering services, employment, access to buildings, communication, training and participation in public life.
Board chairman Terry Ewington said: "North Yorkshire Probation Board always seeks to promote equality of opportunity for all people living and working in or visiting the county.
"Our disability equality scheme is one of a number of measures that North Yorkshire Probation Board is taking to ensure that we promote good equality practices and ensure that we meet the needs of disabled service users and staff."
