LANDOWNERS have the chance to break into the world of films and television.

Yorkshire Locations, a Leeds company specialising in finding land and buildings for filming and photography, has asked the Country Land and Business Association (CLA) for help.

Company founder Nick Jones said: "Rural Yorkshire is one of the most popular parts of the country for filming, which is why we have asked the CLA to raise awareness of this potential income among its 3,500 members."

His company provides an online database for commercials, film and television production companies looking for film or still photography backdrops.

Mr Jones is keen to find places, including large country estates, small stretches of private roads and lanes.

They are currently looking for a traditional farmhouse with outbuildings and land for filming in the kitchen and living room. Ideally both rooms will have views across the Dales.

Private roads with stunning views of Dales, moors or coast are sought for motoring adverts, and general interesting views over valleys and woodland.

Large detached properties and farms with grounds are needed in the Whitby and Scarborough area, ideally to match the 1960s and early 1970s.

CLA regional director Dorothy Fairburn said it was increasingly difficult for members to earn a living from traditional farming.

She said: "We are keen to highlight alternative sources of income and, depending on the type of filming and time required, landowners can potentially earn hundreds of pounds a day."
