SCHOOL pupils had an out-of-this-world experience when they teamed up with a professional composer and musician.
Classmates at Aycliffe Village Primary School went on a musical journey through outer space, by composing and performing their own piece of music to represent travelling through the universe.
Every child at the school got to work with freelance composer Bill Connor and composer musician Ian Stephenson to create the 20-minute piece.
They then performed it for parents, and some of them repeated the show at family day at the Sage, in Gateshead.
Headteacher Jo Clarke said: "It was marvellous for the children to join together to put on a whole school performance.
"I cannot remember seeing every child playing every instrument in the school at the same time ever before.
"It was a wonderful creative, confidence building project for which the children worked as a team.
"All musical abilities were able to use the instruments."
