A LOCAL radio station broadcasting over the internet may soon record North Yorkshire County Council meetings.
Radio Ryedale, based at Hovingham, near Malton, approached the council about making a pilot webcast of a meeting to raise awareness of the council's work.
Councillors agreed the idea should be tested by recording a meeting of the Ryedale area committee.
However, there are problems obtaining good quality sound from venues chosen to hold the committee meetings.
Officers have suggested that better results could be achieved through the microphone system for speakers at the council chamber at County Hall, although legal issues such as defamation and copyright must still be considered.
Senior councillors will be asked on Tuesday to consider a trial recording of the full council meeting on December 20 so a technical assessment can be made.
If could lead to a public recording of the full council meeting on February 21.
