KIND-HEARTED youngsters walked the length of Hadrian's Wall and helped raise £16,000 for charity.
Sixth-form students at The Hermitage School, in Chester-le-Street, covered the length of the Roman-built structure from Wallsend to the Solway Firth - a total of 84 miles - in five days.
They and other pupils also took part in sponsored runs and walks around the school grounds.
The school's student council will present the money to four charities nominated by the pupils.
Cancer Research UK and Leukaemia Research will each get £6,500, while Children in Need and the Make A Wish Foundation will receive £1,500 each.
Headteacher Ian Robertson said: "Everyone should be very proud that they have raised such a generous amount for some extremely worthwhile causes.
"This was a superb effort from all concerned and I congratulate them for their hard work."
