A KIND-HEARTED student will spend her summer looking after donkeys in Corfu.
Alexia Yiannouli, from Billingham, will volunteer at the Corfu Donkey Rescue sanctuary after being moved by a previous visit.
Miss Yiannouli, who studies at Darlington’s Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College and wants to be a vet, was appalled by the mistreatment of donkeys in Corfu.
She said: “Animal welfare in Greece is very different from that in the UK and the Corfu Donkey Sanctuary is aiming to make a difference.
“However, their funding is not secure and they face severe financial difficulties in providing shelter, security and veterinary care for the animals that come to them.
“I hope to help in some small way and want to publicise their incredible work.”
