KENDAL Town stepped up their preparation for pre-season with two big signings coming to Parkside Road from neighbours Workington.

Defender Niall Cowperthwaite and striker Jordan Connerton will play in a Black and White shirt next season, to go along with contracted strikers Maison McGeechan and Danny Mitchley and defenders Adam Freeland and Danny McGahon.

Manager Steve Edmondson said he was delighted with the latest two acquisitions for the Parkside Road outfit.

“I’m absolutely over the moon with these two signings,” Edmondson said.

“With a couple more players in the pipeline we’re confident we’ll get them and it’ll be fantastic for the club.”

Martin Grundy, Zach Clark and Mike Rushton are among the players who should return to the fold next season, and Edmondson said other players would return should they prove to be good enough to play at Evo-Stik First Division North level.

Meanwhile, Kendal Town will now play Carlisle United on Saturday, July 6, with kickoff at 3pm, as opposed to the evening before.

The club also announced that Gilkes are renewing their sponsorship of home and away shirts for another season.
