A FUNDRAISING walk for a cancer charity returns this year and organisers are encouraging people to take part in a 10km twilight walk around Castle Howard, near York.
Marie Curie Cancer Care’s Walk Ten event is back for a third year on Saturday, July 20, and is one of a series of Walk Ten events taking place at 17 locations in the UK.
Allowing after-hours access to the grounds, the 10km twilight walk will take in lakes and monuments, fields and woodland before returning through lit gardens as the evening falls.
Memory lanterns with personal messages will also be lit and form a display of remembrance.
The event starts at 6pm and registration is £10 per person when booking in advance and £20 on the night, and under-16s go free.
The charity asks walkers to raise as much as they can and all cash raised in sponsorship and at the event will go towards local home nursing care, free to people with cancer and other terminal illnesses, allowing them to be treated and remain in the comfort of their own homes.
Marie Curie Nurses also give respite and support to families.
