MORE details have been released about the arrest of a man who climbed on to a rooftop causing an area of town to come to a standstill yesterday (Tuesday, April 21).

Cleveland Police said they received information the man was walking on a rooftop in Middlesbrough at about 12.45pm.

At about 2pm the 21-year-old made off from police and entered a house on Victoria Road through an open window.

An officer from the dog section entered the house and he was arrested.

About 100 people watched the drama and the ambulance and fire brigade attended as a precaution. The police helicopter was also called.

A man has been charged with theft and failing to surrender to police bail. He appeared at court yesterday afternoon.
