A MULTI-award winning curry chef has set his sights on bagging the restaurant industry’s ultimate accolade – a Michelin star.
Syed Zohorul Islam, executive chef at The Capital and Spice Lounge restaurants in Durham City, met a number of Michelin starred chefs at a seminar organised by trade magazine Curry Life and held at London’s Park Plaza Riverbank Hotel.
Among the speakers were Atul Kochhar, from London’s Benares Restaurant and Bar; Dominic Chapman, of The Royal Oak, Paley Street; and Mo Gherras, The Royal Oak’s front-of-house manager.
Mr Islam, who has won a string of local and national awards, said: “The seminar was a golden opportunity for us to learn from three giants of the culinary world.
“Who knows? One day we, too, could achieve a Michelin star for our restaurant.”
