A major fire has destroyed a former library building in Thorntree, Middlesbrough, tonight.
Police and firefighters were called to the building on Beresford Crescent at 8.40pm.
Six crews, the special incident unit and the hydraulic ladder attended.
At 11.45pm police confirmed that that the fire had been extinguished and enquiries will continue tomorrow with the Arson Investigation Unit to establish a cause.
Earlier, residents were asked to keep doors and windows closed as a precaution.
