POLICE are appealing for information to identify a van, which failed to stop following a collision.

The incident happened at 5.50pm last Friday, April 26, on Knaresborough Road, Starbeck, in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, and involved a red Rover, driven by a 32-year-old local man with two children in the rear, and a white van.

The Rover was travelling towards Harrogate, when the van pulled across the front of it and headed along Wedderburn Avenue.

As a result of the collision the Rover was badly damaged – but no-one in the car was injured.

Traffic Constable Stuart Holden said: “It may be that the driver of the van involved is not aware of the collision. I ask them to come forward so that I can take a statement from them about the incident."

He added: “I am keen to speak with people who work in vehicle repair shops as I believe that the van will have been damaged. Anyone who is asked to carry out repairs to white vans is urged to contact the police as soon as possible.”

Contact Harrogate police on 101, press option two and ask for Stuart Holden. Alternatively, information can be emailed to stuart.holden@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
