A PROJECT to preserve the living memories of the Consett steel industry has been unveiled.
The Made of Steel creative heritage project, which began collecting memories in November from former workers and their families, offers a showcase of stories and experiences.
The project includes displays, performances, recordings and a film premiere based on the chronicled experiences of people and their time at the Consett Steelworks.
It was unveiled at The Lodge in Blackhill and Consett Park today. (Monday, April 29) Cheryl Gavin, programme manager for the project, said: “Made of Steel has created a unique digital collection of work, to provide a lasting legacy for future generations.”
A showcase event of the project will take place on Tuesday, April 30 from 1pm to 3pm and 6.30pm to 8.30pm.
