A CHARITY duck race organised by students has been held on the River Wear in Durham City.
The race, organised by Durham University Charities Kommittee, saw 10,000 plastic ducks tipped into the water from Elvet Bridge, in Durham City.
The first duck to go under Kingsgate Bridge won its owner £1,000 with prizes for second and third place.
The race was started by Councillor John Wilkinson, the Mayor of Durham, at 1pm on Saturday.
The race had been scheduled to take place in February but has to be cancelled due to snow.
