THE public are being asked to help in the hunt for a man wanted for questioning about offences that took place overseas.

Stuart Worsley, 41 and originally from North Yorkshire, failed to answer bail after his extradition to Portugal was ordered.

The authorities over there want to speak to Worsley in connection with burglary and assault offences, which occurred in Lagos, Portugal, in 2012.

However Worsley’s whereabouts are unknown and it is possible that he is anywhere in the country – although it is believed he has links in the Nottingham area.

Inspector Rob Settle made a direct plea to the wanted man: “Stuart, if you see or hear this appeal I very strongly advise you to hand yourself in to the nearest police station immediately.

“This is not an issue that will go away. We will not stop the search for you until you are in custody.”

He appealed to anyone who knows where Worsley is to contact the police or Crimestoppers immediately and added: “If you are protecting Worsley you are not helping him, indeed you are only delaying the inevitable outcome.

“Also, I ask you to consider the possible consequences for yourself. If you are shielding Worsley you may be committing offences. If this is the case, you face the prospect of being arrested and may face prosecution.”

The wanted man was described as 5ft 9ins tall, with a medium build and brown hair.

Contact North Yorkshire police on 101, select option one and pass information to the force control room or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
