WALKING in the beautiful North-East countryside is always a pleasure - but this month there's the chance to raise money for needy children at the same time.

The Countryfile Ramble for BBC Children In Need takes place on Saturday and Sunday, October 14 and 15.

Last year, thousands of rambles took part in the event, raising £1.5m for the charity.

This year, ramblers are being urged to add their miles with other walkers in a bid to cover the distance of the UK.

There's also the chance that you'll be joined on your ramble by some of the Countryfile presenters, so email your plans to countryfile@bbc.co.uk

As much of the national rambling celebration as possible will also be captured for posterity, with ramblers being asked to film and Tweet pictures of their experiences to @BBCCountryfile and using the hashtag #BBCMyRamble.

To find out how to arrange your ramble, search the internet for "Countryfile Ramble" and you'll find all the details.
