A POPULAR solo performer is returning to town for an evening of piano recitals.
Darlington Piano Society welcomes back Grace Yeo, who played previously for the society in 2015.
Ms Yeo, from South Korea, is a regular performer of solo and chamber music recitals and of concertos, both in the UK and at home. She holds teaching posts at King’s College, London and at Seoul University.
The first half of her programme includes works by Robert Schumann, opening with the Arabesque, followed by Kinderzsenen (“Scenes of Childhood”). To end the first half, Ms Yeo will perform Schumann’s second piano sonata, a substantial work of 30 minutes in length.
The second half begins with two works by Clara Schumann and, to bring the recital to a close, Ms Yeo will perform Beethoven’s Sonata in D.
Greg Johnson, Darlington Piano Society’s chairman, said audiences were in awe following Ms Yeo’s previous performance in Darlington in 2015. He said: “Grace first came to our attention after a review of a recital at London’s prestigious Wigmore Hall in 2014 and gave a performance which told us that she must return.
“I’m sure that we will be similarly enraptured by this recital.”
The performance will be in the Central Hall of the Dolphin Centre at 3pm on Sunday, November 17. Tickets from www.dpiano.co.uk and at the door, priced £14, or free for under 21s.
