BASTILLE brought down the house on Saturday night with an explosive show in Scarborough.

With the season heading into its final few shows it seemed only right to have indie pop royalty Bastille take centre stage at the Open Air Theatre at the heart of the Yorkshire coast.

Formed back in 2010, band members Dan Smith, Will Farquarson, Kyle Simmons and Chris Wood have won countless awards as well as creating two hit studio albums; 'Bad Blood' and 'Wild World'.

Support came from brothers Harry and Alfie, better known as the Irish folk duo Hudson Taylor, who had the audience clapping along to their catchy acoustic choruses and rock-fuelled riffs.

The crowd erupted as the band took to the stage and opened with their catchy pop hit ‘Good Grief’ before playing ‘Blame’ and ‘Icarus’ which saw lead singer Dan running around and jumping which had the crowd on their feet throughout.

They pulled out all the stops to give fans a show like no other, revisiting old hits such as ‘Things we lost in the fire’, ‘Bad Blood’ and ‘Icarus’ before launching into their newer material with ‘Warmth’ and ‘Blame’.

The band who are currently working on a new album, gave fans a sneak peek of their new musical direction, with their single ‘Quarter past midnight’. The catchy track is a complete u-turn from their previous material, proving the band really are genre-less.

The night came to a euphoric end with a couple getting engaged before the band launched into their closing number. The 2013 indie synth pop hit 'Pompeii' had everyone out of their seats and dancing despite the weather starting to turn.
