Darlington’s Hayley McKay is looking for her Chance to Change

Darlington's leading singer-songwriter, Hayley McKay, is starting the year in style with her new single, Chance To Change.

Already gaining recognition across the airwaves - BBC Tees already have it as their track of the week making it the third successive single of the week for the local pop country starlet. And Hayley is hoping her new music will do just that, afford a chance to change, building on the success last year brought her way.

Penned by the Irish duo of Aoibheann Carey Philpott and Joe Carey Jnr, Hayley’s stunning vocal range shines through in impressive style showing why, with support of BBC Radio Two’s Whispering Bob Harris (a visit there last summer saw her record a few tracks with the radio icon's son, Miles), she is the one to watch.

“This is only my third single, but each one has been very different,” said Hayley.

“Chance To Change also shows another element to my voice. It’s a great song to sing and I hope my audience will enjoy it as much as I do.”

With definite undertones of a Fleetwood Mac nature it bodes well for further releases from the songbird, and you can rest assured that last year’s appearances at the SummerTyne Americana, Tan Hill, Hardwick Live, Folk on the Dock, and Devizes festivals, will be bettered this time around.

“I’ve definitely got a busy year planned and I’m really excited about my debut album,” smiled Hayley.

“First I’ve got this new single along with a quite few live dates, including performing at The Georgian Theatre in Stockton (February 10), whilst the aim is to be able to get onto BBC Radio Two and more Spotify playlists.

“That’s where I need to be, getting my music out there as the music world, like the world as a whole, is constantly changing.”

Taken from her upcoming, self-titled, debut album (scheduled for release later this year) Chance To Change, is available now for pre-orders ahead of its March 16 release.

Music lovers can catch Hayley at the following events over the next few months - February 10 (with support from John and the Ragmen) at The Georgian Theatre, Stockton; Mar 24 at Hyde Park Book Club, Leeds. and on March 31 at a major event in Stockton.Tickets for the Teesside gig are available from from https://georgiantheatre.co.uk/live-event/hayley-mckay
