Norwich Union owner Aviva has reported a rise of 27 per cent in half-year profits after benefiting from a pick-up in the UK pensions market.
Aviva revealed that sales in UK long-term savings rose 43 per cent to £6.9bn, helped by an 86 per cent increase in individual pensions business following regulatory changes and amid industry-wide warnings of potential retirement shortfalls.
