ENGINEERING firms are to be given advice on entering the renewables sector supply chain at an event later this month.

Durham City-based NOF Energy, an energy sector business development organisation, is hosting the networking event at the Stadium of Light, in Sunderland on September 23.

ScottishPower Renewables, the UK’s largest developer of onshore windfarms with more than 30 sites operational, under construction or in planning, will attend to highlight opportunities to enter the supply chain.

The company is also active in the global offshore wind marketplace and is part of Iberdrola Renewables, which is the world’s largest producer of renewable energy.

At the event, the company’s Round 3 programme director, Jason Martin, will explain the offshore wind marketplace and provide an insight into ScottishPower Renewables and Iberdrola Renewables’ business activities, as well as discussing the sector’s supply chain requirements.

Mr Martin said: “This is an extremely exciting time for offshore wind and we are eager to ensure that UK companies understand the opportunities in this new sector.

“The UK has companies and a workforce with the potential to play key roles in offshore renewables and I hope this event will encourage many of them to get involved.”
