A LEADING hirer of portable site accommodation and secure storage containers has appointed a new operations director to take charge of its national network of 15 branches.

Mobile Mini, which has its headquarters in Stockton, has promoted Phil Hughes to UK operations director.

Prior to this, he was southern regional director, a role he had held since joining the company in 2017.

Mr Hughes has more than 35 years of experience in the site storage and accommodation industry, working his way up to management level from his first role as a yard operative in 1983.

He said: “It is a real privilege to be appointed UK operations director for Mobile Mini.

“It is a great company and I have an amazing team around me that make every day successful.

“We made some changes to our structure at the end of last year which will really take us to the next level when it comes to customer excellence and build on our already world-class service.

“We don’t want to settle for just being great – we want to be extraordinary.”

Mr Hugheswill also be responsible for looking at development opportunities for the firm, whether that is from organic growth, acquisitions or geographical expansion.

“Having worked in many of the positions I now manage, I believe I have the knowledge and ability to drive the business forward to where we want to be,” he added.

“We have a vision to double in size over the next five years, and I firmly believe we have the ability to do so.

“With this growth, we also want to become known as an employer with diversity and inclusion at the heart of our workforce.

“There has been great progress in this area and we have seen the number of female applicants into our business double over this past year, which is already shaping our company in the way we want it to be.”

Having worked in a variety of roles for a range of firms, Mr Hughes said that Mobile Mini is his perfect match, and is looking forward to a long-term career with the company.

“My beliefs are the same as our core values and therefore it is easy to translate this into my everyday life,” he said.

“I love coming to work and seeing what impact each and every person makes to our business.

“It is amazing to be part of such a great culture with fantastic people who care about the business as much as I do.

“We are constantly looking at how we can improve as a business, a team and as individuals.

“I am really looking forward to the development of the company and working with an incredible management team across the business.

“It’s an exciting time at Mobile Mini and the future is looking very bright.”
