New figures have revealed that 47 businesses across the North East have won contracts to help build a new nuclear power station in Hinkley Point C in Somerset.
It is one of the largest construction projects in Europe and the first nuclear power station to be built in the UK for almost 30 years.
Darchem Engineering, based in Stillington, Stockton-on-Tees are providing the project with high quality fuel storage pool liners, tanks, vessels and other equipment in a multi-million pound contract.
Tusk Lifting, based in Stockton-on-Tees is providing the project with specialist lifting expertise in a contract worth hundreds of thousands of pounds.
Responsive Engineering, based in Newcastle have supplied the project with specialist and complex fabrication in a contract worth over £3.5 million.
