CIVIL and structural engineering consultancy JPG has secured a second instruction to advise on the second phase of a major business park in Darlington.

The instruction from developer DB Symmetry comes after successfully providing consultancy services on phase one of Symmetry Park, where a £100m logistics building for a major online retailer, understood to be Amazon, is nearing completion.

Phase two includes plans for up to 630,000 sq ft of further logistics space or potential for new mixed-use accommodation such as a hotel, petrol filling station, drive thru, restaurants and offices.

JPG is consulting on the civil and structural engineering aspects of the site and has advised on the current proposals where planning consent is pending.

JPG is currently working alongside ISG Construction to complete the first phase's 1.5 million sq ft unit being funded by TRITAX Big Box REIT

Kevin Wheldale, associate and project lead at JPG said, “DB Symmetry are a key client for us and we are currently managing multiple projects for them.

"We are well versed in the building requirements of major occupiers and have subsequently adapted designs to suit this site and responded to the modifications needed to achieve their bespoke user requirements.

Mr Wheldale added: "For the overall site we have advised on earthworks, public highways, infrastructure drainage and all aspects of the building structure and we adapted the design significantly through the construction period in response to what is a fast paced emerging project brief."
