A COMPANY which helps vulnerable people escape "fuel poverty" has been recognised for its work at the energy efficiency awards.

YES Energy Solutions, which works with local authorities across North Yorkshire to install boilers and central heating, was named 'Vulnerable Customer Support Campaigner of the Year' at the Yorkshire and Humberside Energy Efficiency Awards.

The firm was chosen to work with Hambleton District Council, Ryedale Borough Council and Scarborough Borough Council, to deliver fully and part-funded central heating systems to vulnerable householders.

Duncan McCombie, YES Energy Solutions chief executive, said: "Helping vulnerable people is what drives this company, and we are delighted to receive this award for our hard work.

"As a Community Interest Company, we strive to help people in our local area as much as possible, and it is a pleasure to be recognised for this.”

Councillor Keane Duncan of Ryedale Borough Council added: "They have helped the residents of Ryedale through their work in reducing fuel poverty by offering advice and managing the installs of practical measures.

“I am pleased they have received recognition in the form of this award."
