Another Darlington business is preparing to shut its doors after announcing its closure this week.

Houndgate Townhouse, located on Houndgate in the town centre, posted on its website and social media channels on Monday to inform customers it will close at the end of the month.

The business, a designer hotel, bar and restaurant, said the closure is due to economic uncertainty.

The announcement said: “Due to economic uncertainty and an unsustainable business model, and after almost six years of trading we regret to inform you of the closure of Houndgate Townhouse.

“Our last trading day will be Friday, April 26 2019. Any events booked and deposits paid for bookings after this date, where exclusive use as a function has been given, will have the option to a full refund or the booking to remain and external catering staff to be used to fulfil the requirements of the event.

“Any vouchers that have not been redeemed by April 26 and are within the six months date limit will also receive a full refund on receipt of the voucher being presented.

“Any bookings for accommodation or restaurant bookings made for dates after April 26 2019, not including exclusive events, will be cancelled and the deposits if already received will be refunded.

“Any further queries regarding any bookings, events, vouchers or general customer enquiries please email: info@houndgatetownhouse.co.uk “We are doing everything possible to contact everyone affected and work through the available options.

“We would like to thank you for your patience at this time, we appreciate that you may feel frustrated and would like clarification on your future bookings.”
