A FLEET maintenance firm based on Teesside is planning to expand with a second site near Teesport.

Stockton-based Riverside Commercial Services, founded as M&J Commercials several years ago, said its sales had increased by more than 20 per cent over the last year.

The firm, which provides servicing and maintenance to trucks and vans from across the region, said it recently went through changes to its senior management and branding.

Lisa Cowley, finance director at Riverside Commercial Services, said the company were now exploring a further site at Teesport in Middlesbrough.

She said: "We’ve looked at a second site, it is going to be Middlesbrough, we do a lot of work over at the Teesport.

"So, if we put a site near there it makes sense for us to reduce travel time too.

“Since the change we have worked hard to deliver on new contracts which means we’ve been able to expand our technical teams as well.

“We have implemented a lot of changes, just to make our systems better too, we have invested in new software.

“We needed to get with the times, a new online system could become mandatory soon, and we didn’t want to be left playing catch up.”

In February, Teesport gained international accreditation from the Authorised Economic Operator for its operations.
