A LANDLORD in charge of a popular Dales pub for just 18 months has died suddenly.
Kris Orme, who ran the Bolton Arms in Leyburn, North Yorkshire, with partner Louise Jones. The sad news of his death was made public on the Bolton Arms Facebook page.
The online statement read: “It is with the deepest sadness we inform you that Kris passed away peacefully on Wednesday."
Mr Orme and his partner and young family moved to the Dales in 2017 in search of a new challenge. In October that year, they reopened the Bolton Arms following a £160,000 refit as a joint investment with owners, Punch.
The pair had also recently taken over the Farmers Arms in Brompton-on-Swale.
Sadly, Mr Orme was admitted to hospital after falling ill several weeks ago and died on March 27.
Punch chief executive, Clive Chesser, said: "Kris was a fantastic publican and together with his partner Lou and their family, really put the heart back into the Bolton Arms with great plans to repeat this success having recently taken the Farmers Arms also.
“We offer our deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to Lou and their family at this difficult time."
