A CHARITY will be able to bring a smile to more than 100 children's faces this Easter after a generous workforce donated a haul of chocolate eggs.

Staff at AKV Cladding, in Shildon, County Durham, donated more than 100 eggs of all different sizes to the charity Bringing Back A Smile, which aims to make life easier for adults and children facing life-threatening illness.

The firm's customers also responded to an appeal by company bosses and raised more than £1,200 for the charity.

Charity founder, Kevin Hill and director, Mandy Brunskill, visited the site on Thursday to collect the eggs before distributing them to children across North-East hospitals.

Mr Hill praised everyone involved and thanked them for their generous donations.

Sales manager, Martyn Byrne, said he had known Mr Hill through the local darts scene but it was a chance encounter with the charity's Facebook page that led him to their website.

"After reading all about the fantastic work they have done, I had to help.

"With the support of my directors, all the AKV staff and our fantastic customer base and supply chain, I am pleased to say we have raised £1,200 for charity as well as donating approximately 100 Easter eggs to their annual Easter run."
