IF you needed a reminder that Autumn is here, here are some photos of Tom Spilman harvesting his crop at Spilman's Pumpkin Farm, near Thirsk in North Yorkshire.

Spilman's only started offering pick your own pumpkins last year but due to the high demand they have now doubled their crop to around 20,000 pumpkins and squashes of all sizes.

The farm is also running a variety of Halloween-themed events throughout October.

Owner and farmer Tom Spilman said: "Last year we did it and we were surprised by how popular it was - it was absolute mayhem!

"So we have doubled the amount of pumpkins this year and we have a cafe open to go hand in hand with that.

"We have expanded and hopefully we will still sell them all."

Mr Spilman said that this year's crop has been a big success despite some weather extremes.

He said: "Luckily we can irrigate so our crop is good and we have got some very big pumpkins.

"I think a lot of supermarkets are struggling to get hold of the bigger sizes this year and have reduced their size grading, but we have got lots of very big ones here."  The Halloween events at the farm include two spooky walks, singing pumpkins, a movie and a free squash. There is also a carving barn where people can create their spooky Halloween pumpkins.
