A FAMILY-RUN funeral business has expanded its services following a significant investment.

Darlington Funeral directors Seaton Leng and Son secured finance from Barclays as well as assistance from the bank’s area business manager, Keith Crossley, to significantly invest in its fleet of vehicles.

The firm, which was established in 1891 in Gladstone Street, Darlington, and is now based at Bondgate, Darlington, is jointly run by the second and third generation of the Tindale family.

James Tindale, director of the undertakers, said: "During these difficult times it is essential that you maintain close links with your bank and ensure they have a genuine understanding of your business.

“After a day in the business Keith really has a grasp of how we operate and the funding that Barclays has provided will further our growth strategy plan and continue the family business for hopefully generations to come.”

Keith Crossley, Barclays Area Business Banking Manager said: "After spending a day in the business with James and his team I was extremely impressed with the dignity and high standards the family business operates.

"The more we know and learn about our customers the better, enabling us to provide the right levels of support and advice when required and the new fleet of cars will enable the business to buck the current conditions and to continue with their growth plans."
