NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN in accordance with Section 83 Housing Act 2004 (Notification Requirements Relating to Designation) that Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council acting as local housing authority in exercise of its powers under Section 80 of the Housing Act 2004 has designated South Bank (older housing area) ("the area") for selective licensing. The area is defined as South Bank (Older Housing Area) more particularly detailed on a plan available for inspection at all reasonable hours at:

The designation was made on 20 December 2018 and comes into force on
25 March 2019. The designation will have effect until 24 March 2024. The
Designation, Notice and plan may be inspected at all reasonable hours at the address detailed above. Applications for licences and general advice may be obtained from Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, Redcar & Cleveland House, Kirkleatham Street, Redcar TS10 1RT or by contacting the email address or telephone number detailed above.
The designation does not require confirmation by the Secretary of State and falls within a general approval issued by the Secretary of State under Section 82 of the Act, namely the Housing Act 2004: The Licensing of Houses in Multiple Occupation and Selective Licensing of Other Residential Accommodation (England) General Approval 2015.
Any private landlord, property manager or tenant owning, managing or occupying a property within this area is advised to seek advice from the Council's Housing Standards Team by telephone on 01287 612455 by email Selective.Licensing@redcar-cleveland.gov.uk or in writing at Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council Redcar & Cleveland House, Kirkleatham Street, Redcar TS10 1RT to determine whether their property is affected by the designation. Private landlords who own property in the area or any person that controls or manages property in the area will be required from
26 March 2019 to apply for a licence. Failure to licence a property, if required, may lead to prosecution and an unlimited fine.
