THE A19 TRUNK ROAD (KNAYTON INTERCHANGE TO BLACK SWAN INTERCHANGE)

THE A19 TRUNK ROAD (KNAYTON INTERCHANGE TO BLACK SWAN INTERCHANGE)
(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited intends to make an Order on the A19 Trunk Road, in the District of Hambleton, to enable carriageway resurfacing works to be carried out in safety. The works are expected to start on Friday 5 May 2017 for 3 weeks, or until comp eted.
The effect of the Order will be, between 8pm and 6am, at times during the works, to:
(i) close the A19 northbound carriageway from 300 metres south of the A684 Osmotherley Interchange overbridge to 160 metres south of the A172 Tontine Interchange overbridge, a distance of 2950 metres; during which times traffic will be diverted onto the opposite carriageway using a contraflow system;

(ii) close the A19 southbound carriageway from 300 metres south of Osmotherley Interchange overbridge to 160 metres south of Tontine Interchange overbridge, a distance of 2950 metres; during which times traffic will be diverted onto the opposite carriageway using a contraflow system;

(iii) close the A19 northbound entry and exit and southbound entry slip roads at Tontine Interchange;

(iv) close the A19 northbound entry and southbound exit and entry slip roads at Osmotherley Interchange;

(v) ban traffic from entering or leaving the A19 northbound carriageway at its junction with Stony Lane;

(vi) ban traffic from entering or leaving the A19 southbound carriageway at its junction with the access road leading to Mount Grace; and

(vii) close the gaps in the central reservation between Tontine Interchange and Knayton Interchange. During the closures, suitably signed alternative routes will be available.

It will also be necessary, for 24 hours a day, at times during the works, to:
(i) impose a temporary 50mph speed restriction on the A19 northbound carriageway from 2460 metres south of Osmotherley Interchange overbridge to 100 metres north of Tontine Interchange overbridge, a distance of 5240 metres;

(ii) impose a temporary 50mph speed restriction on the A19 southbound carriageway from 1630 metres north of Tontine Interchange overbridge to 430 metres south of Osmotherley Interchange overbridge, a distance of 4980 metres;

(iii) close the layby adjacent to the A19 southbound carriageway approximately 250 metres north of Tontine Interchange overbridge; and

(iv) close the layby adjacent to the A19 southbound carriageway approximately 600 metres south of Osmotherley Interchange overbridge.

Traffic management will be in force 24 hours a day and traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restrictions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles) and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works or for winter maintenance or traffic officer purposes). Access will be maintained at all times to premises and property which are accessible from, and only from, the A19. The Order comes into force on 4 May 2017 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
